Antibiotic Stewardship in Small Animal Surgery

The WHO declared antimicrobial resistance as one of the most urgent healthcare issues of the time. In order to reduce the worldwide antimicrobial selection pressure, prudent antimicrobial usage is more important than ever. This is especially important in prophylactic applications, as are most of the perioperative antimicrobial prescriptions.

While most guidelines restrict indications for antimicrobial usage more and more, this only partially translates into a change of the current prescription behavior. This webinar will discuss the evidence for perioperative antimicrobial usage as well as pitfalls and open-ended questions that need to be addressed in the future.
