Minimally Invasive Surgical Extraction Techniques in the Horse
This three-lecture session will describe techniques used to perform exodontia in the horse that utilizes minimally invasive techniques. A new technique in jaw fracture fixation will also be demonstrated. Potential complications and how to both avoid and treat the complications postoperative. This session will require ample knowledge of the dental anatomy of the horse.

He achieved board certification status with the AVDC in the non-specie specific tract in 2015 and the equine tract in 2016. He is the hospital director for Midwest Veterinary Dental Services in Elkhorn, WI, a Thrive Pet Healthcare practice. The practice is limited to dentistry and oral surgery of equine and small animal patients.

Dr. Rice graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Following graduation she completed an internship at Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital. She spent the following six years in general ambulatory equine practice until switching to a dentistry focused practice in Southeastern Wisconsin. She became board-certified in Equine Dentistry in 2018. She is passionate about sharing her dental knowledge with horse owners, veterinarians, and veterinary students. She and her husband enjoy hiking, camping, and fishing in their free time.
